Trope Trial: Love Triangles

This is a new series I’m trying out!

HereAndNow

So I’m trying out a new series where I share 5 recent books I’ve read that all share a specific trope. I’ve noticed I read a lot of books with the same tropes or themes and I wanted a way to share them.

These aren’t necessarily favorites or recommendations, they’re just books I’ve read in the last year or so that share a common theme. I’ll link my reviews and let you know which ones were my favorites!

I realize I’m in the minority but I love love triangles! Here are some of the recent ones I’ve read (and most of them I really loved!)

1. What He Doesn’t Know Duet by Kandi Steiner ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Originally I gave these books 4 stars but in hindsight this is an easy 5 star series. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about these books since I read it over a year ago. It’s amazing. This book will leave you questioning everything you think you know about your feelings on love triangles.

This follows a woman who is feeling neglected and unseen in her marriage when a previous love interest shows up as the new teacher at her school. She needs to decide what she wants – the man she committed to or her first love?

I was so torn through this entire duet and loved all 3 of the main characters. If you take anything away from this post: READ THIS DUET!

2. Here and Now Trilogy by Lexi Ryan ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This series definitely won’t be for everyone but I personally never wanted it to end. Lexi Ryan is one of my favorite authors and I loved the drama and angst of this series.

This follows a woman who wakes up in the hospital and can’t remember the last year of her life. Somehow she is engaged to the man she’s been pining over for years and everything about her life completely different. But a mysterious man shows up at her house in the middle of the night and she has to figure out what happened over the last year and who she really loves.

This series is over the top dramatic but ridiculously binge-able.

3. On the Rocks (Becker Brothers #1) by Kandi Steiner ⭐⭐⭐⭐

OnTheRocks

This is on the lighter side of the love triangle trope! This follows Ruby who is engaged to a business man her political family adores. But being back in her hometown has her questioning the life she thought she wanted. Especially when she starts spending town with Noah Becker.

This entire series is really sweet and Kandi Steiner is an amazing author. I can’t recommend enough!

4. One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid ⭐⭐⭐⭐

OneTrueLoves

Another one of my all-time favorite authors! This is another polarizing book but one that I really loved. This follows a woman who is married to the man of her dreams. But one day, her husband is on a helicopter that crashed in Alaska and her life is turned upside-down. She leaves behind their home in California and moves to her childhood hometown on the east coast. There she’s starts and new life and a new love until her husband is found alive and returns. Now she must decide which man is her one true love.

TJR has such an amazing way of making a reader question everything. This book really makes you question what you would do is such a difficult situation. You may not agree with what the MC does or choses but I thought it was a fascinating discussion.

5. You Were There Too by Colleen Oakley ⭐⭐⭐

YouWereThereToo

Last and my most recent read! Unfortunately this was also the one I enjoyed the least. This was just released in early January and follows a woman who has been dreaming of the same man for as long as she can remember. When her and her husband move to a new small town and she sees the dream man face to face, she starts to question everything. Now she must decide if she is with the right man or if fate is trying to tell her something.

This book is so. sad. Every time I think about this book that’s what sticks out the most. I was intrigued while reading this but personally wasn’t a big fan of where this book went in the end.

How do you feel about love triangles? Let me know if you’ve read any of these or if any of them are on your TBR!
